According to a report, the Covid vaccine by AstraZeneca (marketed and administered in India as Covishield) increased the chance of heart problems and death in young women by 3.5 times in the first three months after the initial dose. According to a study by Mr. Vahe Nafilyan, a senior statistician at the ONS who was quoted in the journal Nature Communications, "The subgroup who received AstraZenecas Covid vaccination was more likely to be clinically vulnerable and may be at greater risk of adverse events following vaccination than the general population."

The UK Office for National Statistics study is based on the data collected on the effects of COVID infection and vaccination risk. At present, the UK government has stopped administering AstraZenecas vaccinations to children due to safety concerns. According to the statistical model, 11 out of the 15 cardiac deaths in young women that occurred within 12 weeks of a first dose of a non-mRNA vaccine were likely linked to the vaccine.

Furthermore, the results revealed that, for the study population as a whole, there was no appreciable increase in cardiac or all-cause mortality in the 12 weeks following Covid vaccination compared with more than 12 weeks after any dose. Mr. Nafilyan added that the analysis demonstrated that the risk of death is significantly increased even in young individuals after a positive COVID-19 test.

On the other hand, several experts stated that numerous studies have shown that vaccinations are very effective at preventing hospitalization or death after a COVID-19 infection. Hence, they warned that the results of this study cannot be generalized to the population as a whole.
